On day two we visited Gullfoss and Geysir. Gullfoss is the biggest waterfall in Europe and Geysir is a fun stop since it erupts every few minutes. It also is (one of?) the first geysers referenced in written history.
We then continued on towards Vik, where we stayed for several days.

Where the mist rains upwards!
Taken from Þjórsárdalur, this is Hekla, the volcano responsible for over 8 cubic kilometers of lava deposits in Iceland over the last several hundred years. In 1947 and 1948 it erupted for 13 months, producing nearly 1 cubic kilometer of lava and gtowing in height by over 40 meters.
