Cape Town is on fire. There’s a huge forest fire burning between the main city center where we are now and where we will be staying after Port Elizabeth. It is currently contained, which is great news. Tokai forest is at risk. Watch a video here. Incidentally, Ben Brown’s YouTube channel in that link is what put the Cape Town bug in me in the first place. Is it weird that I travel to a whole new hemisphere because I watched a YouTube video?
Explored more of Cape Town today, did some shopping and some relaxing. That’s a theme. It was cloudy and rained off and on so not many photos. We went out for ostrich steaks and antelope kabobs for dinner tonight. The server broke the cork on our wine and took it away to finish opening it. When she returned with the decanter she brought back the broken cork, presented on a small plate like a cat presents a dead mouse on the doorstep. Is this strange? It seems strange.
